Supplier Information

Showcasing Scotland is a unique and unrivalled opportunity to sell your products to national and international buyers for retail, wholesale and foodservice channels. The event has generated sales of more than £100m for Scottish companies since its inception in 2014.

What’s new in 2019?

This year there will be more supplier places and networking opportunities, and we’ve invested more in the buyer offering, ensuring that we attract the world’s very best food and drink buyers.

Stricter criteria for both buyers and suppliers and a thorough business matchmaking process makes certain you have the right opportunities to meet the right buyers.

Detailed meeting software will allow you to begin promoting your business through your online profile and you’ll be able to research buyers and request meetings ahead of the event.

Our immersive buyer tours, which take place on the first day of the programme, are perfect for educating and inspiring visitors about the quality and story of Scotland’s produce – priming them to source Scottish before they’ve even arrived at your table. Event menus and our supplier showcase will guarantee exposure of your products with buyers with whom you don’t have pre-arranged meetings.

The Supplier Development Programme will equip you with expert support so you can take full advantage of the UK and international business potential of Showcasing Scotland 2019.

Showcasing Scotland 2019 will help you reach buyers from the UK and beyond.

UK Market Opportunities

The UK opportunity for Scottish food and drink is immense. Right on our doorstep is a growing market of over 66 million people, where currency, language, location and logistics work in our favour. It’s a market where Scotland already has a strong reputation and business opportunity for buyers and supplier abound.

Did you know…

  • Seven out of ten Scottish shoppers think food and drink produced in Scotland is better quality than that produced elsewhere. Even in other parts of the UK, around half of shoppers agree.
  • When eating out of home, seven out of ten people in London say they’re more likely to buy food and drink because it’s Scottish.
  • Scottish consumers’ pride in our food and drink is powerful. 82% think we produce the best whisky; 76% the best beef; and 75% the best salmon. Well over half of UK consumers agree with them. The opportunities to leverage this are vast.
  • The Scotch Beef logo has the highest quality perception among different quality logos in Scotland and the second highest in the rest of the UK – higher than other nations’ flags. This association with quality is a gateway for other food and drink too.

The Export Market

Scottish produce travels the world and with it our envious reputation as a Land of Food and Drink. The reasons are simple. We have fantastic natural resources, and we have people with the imagination and ambition to meet growing worldwide demand.

We’ve identified fifteen markets where we believe Scotland’s food and drink businesses have the greatest opportunities. This is where we can put all our effort and resources to work most effectively. Buyers from these markets will receive a personal invitation from their In-Market contact:

Key Markets: North America (USA & Canada) • France • Germany • Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia & Bahrain) • Mainland China and Hong Kong • Japan • SE Asia (Singapore, Thailand)

Second tier: Spain • Italy • Benelux (predominantly Belgium and Netherlands) • Russia • Nordics (Norway, Denmark Sweden & Finland) • South Korea
